Lui Che Woo started as a quarry operator and was mainly involved in transporting equipment for construction to Hong Kong from Okinawa. His company, K. Wah Group, quickly became successful and expanded to other sectors, including property development. Instead of focusing on doing business in Hong Kong and nearby locations, the company expanded to Southeast Asia. Lui entered the gambling scene in 2002 and started the company Galaxy Entertainment Group, which was just one of three gaming concessions on the island of Macau.

Lui focused on building his gambling empire, starting with constructing a hotel and casino, which opened in 2006. The hotel was 5-star and instantly drew the attention of many people as one of the best places to gamble in Asia. By 2011 he continued expanding his presence in the gambling sector, constructing another casino known as the Galaxy Macau, which cost a whopping $1.9 billion. This casino cemented Lui’s name in the gambling industry, and by 2016, his company owned around 23% of the entire sector. His net worth is calculated to be about $12.4 billion.

Mukesh Ambani

Mukesh Ambani is known as the wealthiest man in Asia and owns a well-established, family-owned manufacturing company. Back in the 1960s, Ambani’s father, Dhirubhair Ambani, worked as a yarn trader and built up enough wealth to start Reliance Industries, which, at that time, was a small company focusing on textile manufacturing. Following his father’s death in 2002, Mukesh Ambani took over the running of Reliance Industries, which also now includes some other successful companies under the Reliance Industries umbrella. From clinical research businesses to logistics and even retail, Mukesh Ambani has a presence in almost every industry, enabling him to build the gigantic empire he owns and manages. As of 2023, Mukesh Ambani is worth in the region $83 billion.

Gautam Adani

Gautam Adani was previously known as the wealthiest man in Asia before being overtaken by Mukesh Ambani, but his success is just as impressive. Adani started his business venture as a commodities trader on a relatively small scale. He then moved into other sectors, including port operations, green energy ventures, and coal mining. He quickly built up his wealth through each sector and nowadays is worth somewhere in the region of 72 billion dollars.

Gautam Adani owns the company Adani Group, one giant conglomerate globally, and has been powering India’s economic growth and infrastructure over the past decade. Adani strongly believes in putting India first and has ventured into other business opportunities, including data centers, airports, the defense sector, and renewable and sustainable energy.

Zhong Shanshan

Zhong Shanshan is a businessman who was born in Hangzhou, China. He worked some regular jobs before becoming the business tycoon he is known as today. He left school at an early age to work as a construction worker and later as a news reporter, and he also spent some time as a salesperson. It wasn’t until he started his own company selling water bottles that things took off. Zhong owns the water-bottle company Nongfu Spring, which is an extremely successful company. So successful that Zhong is estimated to be worth an eye-watering $69 billion. This places him as the third richest person in all of Asia. In addition to Nongfu Spring, Shanshan heads a pharmaceutical company, Beijing Wantai Biological Pharmacy.

Shanshan saw a considerable surge in September 2020 when Nongfu Spring went public. This helped cement his place as one of the most successful people in business in all of Asia, with no signs of slowing down any time soon.
