According to education minister Dinesh Gunawardena, all 26 ministers resigned except Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his elder brother Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Gunawardena stated that all the ministers have submitted their resignation papers to the president so that he can establish Sri Lanka a new government. He further stated that the decision was made after a discussion regarding the deteriorating economic situation.
Three more Rajapaksa family members have resigned amid mounting public indignation over chronic food, fuel, and medicine shortages afflicting the 22-million-strong South Asian nation.
Basil Rajapaksa, the youngest Rajapaksa brother, and finance minister, Chamal Rajapaksa, the eldest brother, and agricultural minister, and the family’s scion Namal Rajapaksa, the sports minister, have all quit.
