With the dawn of the new decade, LIVALL’s ultimate goal is to create the world’s first safe cycling ecosystem through a variety of initiatives that utilise the most cutting-edge technologies.
Based out of Shenzhen, China, LIVALL has grown to become an established leader of smart tech protective gear since the company’s inception in 2014. LIVALL currently develops and markets a full range of smart and safe cycling helmets and snow helmets which offer innovative features such as SOS Alerts, adaptive LED lighting and a one-click phone system. Soon to join their successful counterparts is a new smart motorcycle helmet and biometric sports clothing.
Finding innovative ways to enhance the safety of cyclists, skiers and riders is at the heart of the LIVALL operation. This is something that has become more pertinent than ever with the recent surge in popularity of e-Bikes and e-Scooters.
The Advantages and The Dangers of e-Bikes & e-Scooters
Over the past several years, e-bikes and e-scooters have gained significant market traction, particularly amongst urban commuters. This is thanks, in part, to the fact that these electric solutions offer a greener, cleaner alternative to petrol-based modes of transportation. There are also notable economic advantages of switching up the ride to work – a full charge costs approximately 0.13 USD and will take you up to 56 km. That’s the equivalent of 1,500 to 2,000 miles per gallon. Not to mention the most obvious advantage, the pedal-assisted mechanism, which effectively tackles both hills and headwinds, two challenges which even the most experienced cyclists must face.
Consequently, the popularity of electric bikes and scooters has skyrocketed, with the older generation being the most avid buyers amongst the cycling demographic. While China leads the world in e-bike sales, followed by Netherlands and Germany, the sales of e-bikes within the US alone are up almost 60% year-on-year. Indeed, in just 10 years, more than 150 million e-bikes will have been sold worldwide.
However, with this surge of commercial recognition comes the downside. The rate of e-bike and e-scooter riders who are getting into accidents is on the rise, particularly amongst the over 65’s. Staten Island personal injury lawyers note that one of the main issues with scooter accidents is that they tend to be life-threatening. According to the insurance giant, Allianz, the risk of getting into a fatal accident with an e-bike is significantly higher than with a conventional bicycle without battery power. During this year alone, the number of injuries related to e-bike collisions in Switzerland has risen by a staggering 38%, and these statistics are unfortunately being echoed within many different countries.
The World’s First Safe Cycling Ecosystem
LIVALL has committed itself to creating the world’s first safe cycling ecosystem which will assist in protecting cyclists and riders before, during and after impact.
Designed specifically with safety in mind, LIVALL’s new range of e-bikes and e-scooters come with LED lights at the front and at the rear. The advantages to this are two-fold. Firstly, the LED front lights act as headlights and can improve the rider’s ability to make out obstacles from further away, something which can drastically reduce the chances of a collision.
Secondly, it improves the visibility of riders to other road users and pedestrians. While the old adage, “sorry I didn’t see you there” is familiar to many cyclists, new research from the Australian National University has emerged to show that this trend is even more dangerous than previously thought. Indeed, the study showed that cyclists can enter a driver’s field of vision and still go unseen – a phenomenon called “intentional blindness”. As such, a rider’s visibility has become of paramount importance in catching a driver’s attention, something that LIVALL aims to tackle with its smart lighting technology.
If used in conjunction with a LIVALL smart helmet, a rider’s safety can be further improved. All LIVALL smart helmets adhere to the strictest guidelines of safety certification and come with smart-tech features that are geared towards assisting in a rider’s safety.
Some examples of these smart features include turn signals, brake lights, one-click operation and the SOS alert. The latter is particularly interesting, as the helmet will automatically send an alert to the rider’s pre-selected emergency contact in the case of a severe accident. This can accelerate the process of medical evacuation and can assist in the injured rider’s safety after impact.
And the safe cycling ecosystem doesn’t stop there – LIVALL is currently developing several key partnerships within the insurance sphere. The fruition of these endeavours will be the opportunity to distribute insurance cover to new and existing LIVALLers, which will cover Medical Evacuation, Personal Accident, Repatriation and Death (as a result of accident). The Personal Accident cover consists of primary healthcare which will cover you in the event that you require essential medical services such as stiches or a cast. Thanks to the SOS emergency functionality of the LIVALL helmet, which details a rider’s GPS coordinates, the LIVALL platform will assist the insurance entities in requesting emergency transport in the case of an accident.
Committed to Safety
As Bryan Zheng, Founder of LIVALL, explains – “For LIVALL, safety is truly the priority. That’s why all of our products have passed strict technical and safety certifications, thus establishing unparalleled consumer confidence in all of our product lines.”
And the story of the safe cycling ecosystem is just beginning. LIVALL is also in talks with several European municipalities to become the official distributor for e-bike and e-scooter helmets to assist in protecting riders from all over the world.
