Many people who were believing that Indian startups won’t lead anywhere, well, the trade body of Indian IT firms Nasscom has signed an understanding with the giant of social media, Facebook for building a product design initiative to engage the young entrepreneurs into becoming solution builders and problem solvers. And it will extremely boost up startups that are working day in and out. The “Product Design Initiative”, a flagship programme of Nasscom Product Council, aims to support approx 450 product startups on product design and approx 4,500 product designers over a two-year period. Fostering innovation and design, this initiative will encourage Indian entrepreneurs to become problem solvers and develop solutions to harbor creative economic growth, according to NASSCOM.
Chairman of Nasscom Product Council, Ravi Gururaj said, “The Design Initiative will aim to build and diffuse a design culture across our ecosystem, link up with academia, recognize outstanding designs and overall ensure India’s software products delivery delightful customer experiences.” He also added that fostering innovation and design, Nasscom is planning to scale up the focus on product design and encourage Indian entrepreneurs to develop solutions to harbor creative economic growth.
Initiatives that are taken nationwide will focus in offering programmes that build awareness about designing of product, training on designing tools, designing lab, awards, designing sprints and mentorship.
Facebook product design vice president Julie Zhuo said, “We are passionate about design and would like to work alongside industry to foster innovation in product design in India, a country known for great technology and engineering talent.”
