MultiTech: Voyaging Beyond the Benchmarks of the IoT Industry

Innovation is the product of knowledge and a vision, and persistence acting as a catalyst. To innovate something disruptive, it becomes necessary to transcend its purpose. Organizations which follow this approach in delivering topnotch innovation are the ones that ceaselessly ascend the stairs of excellence. MultiTech is a profound example of such organizations. Founded in 1970, the company has consistently developed and delivered industrial-grade equipment to enable data communications between machines. It is the company’s mission to make connected technology easy to adopt and use, by focusing on customer needs, developing innovative solutions, outpacing market change, leveraging best-in-class processes, and empowering its team to achieve and grow.
Currently, MultiTech designs, develops and manufactures data communications equipment for the industrial Internet of Things — connecting physical assets to business processes to deliver enhanced value. The company’s commitment to quality and service excellence means you can count on MultiTech products and people to address your needs, while its history of innovation ensures you can stay ahead of the latest technology with a partner who will be there for the life of your solution.
Contemplating upon the challenges they’ve overcome, the team at MultiTech is of the opinion that getting something started is not easy, it’s a lot of work. But in order to keep it viable year after year, one has to be willing to invest. That means leveraging the time and talent of one’s own and others in order to sustain the ‘genes’ they already had. The team also believes that companies need somebody watching out for all that stuff to make sure the same energy is applied to sustaining what went into starting a business. While putting processes in place, it is necessary to make sure that energy is used on a daily basis. That way, as technology changes, a company is prepared to move with it.
After the passing of its Founder, Raghu Sharma, MultiTech had a few challenges keeping up the extraordinary pace of innovation and subsequent growth it experienced under his leadership.  The company went through a few leadership changes to tap back into its legacy of innovation and achieve, again, an industry-leading growth. The company aims at getting more aggressive in rolling out new technologies, product enhancements and tailored support services. Its focus is to help customers navigate the technology landscape, identify the most appropriate solution for their specific applications and ultimately, solve their biggest IoT pain points. Most importantly, MultiTech intends to continue contributing to a better future.
Personifying Expertise
Currently MultiTech is growing under the leadership and management of Stefan Lindvall, the CEO. He brings more than 20 years of high level experience in the wireless industry to the company. Prior to taking on his role at MultiTech Stefan founded Connected Development, one of the leading wireless design services companies in the U.S. He received his MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Linkoping, Sweden.
Since taking on his role, Stefan has worked with the team to grow revenue by getting closer to the company’s customers – with the right people in the right places; a few tweaks to MultiTech’s go-to-market strategy, and the right mix of exciting new products. In addition, he has taken the time to evaluate where the company invests and where it doesn’t, looking for ways to save, as well as the right strategic investments to help the company grow. As a result, the MultiTech team is intensely focused on execution across every part of its business from sales to engineering to manufacturing and operations.
Delivering Distinction
MultiTech offers a variety of embedded devices as well as gateways, routers and modems that address connectivity across a variety of technologies including analog, Ethernet, cellular and Low Power Wide Area networking (LPWA). Its diverse, award-winning portfolio reflects the constantly evolving world of the IoT with a product and technology combination to suit virtually any use case. The company’s data communication products are designed to ensure the quickest route to market based on customer needs, programming capabilities, preferred use of resources and business focus, in order to deliver a faster return on investment and lower total cost of ownership. MultiTech exhibits a leading position over its competition thanks to its Superior Quality, its Service Excellence and its History of Innovation.
MultiTech has spent ample time making sure the right people are in the right roles in order to simplify and improve its agility. It has expanded its internal communications in order to improve transparency and engagement. The team is completely committed to making MultiTech a great place to work, promoting from within when it can and investing in its people, whether through compensation, benefits or the right tools to get the job done.
When it comes to go-to-market strategy, MultiTech has transitioned from a channel-dependent model to more of a hybrid approach. It has built a strategic accounts team as well as a regional sales organization in order to establish and foster direct relationships with key OEMs in select vertical markets, as well as a business development group focused on better alignment with key partners, particularly network operators and systems integrators. On the marketing side, MultiTech has renewed its messaging and refocused on vertical markets. In doing this, the company feels proud to have engaged the entire organization.
Evident Quality
MultiTech has been great at providing us the support we have needed in the development process. This support is critical to solving issues quickly so that we can spend more time working on the application of the product, instead of the product itself.” – Chad Goyette, Engineer, Tyco Fire & Building Products.
With MultiTech, we were able to shorten our concept to market cycle of a LoRa concept product from a predicted six months to just a few weeks with the help of their team.” – Mark Lorkowski, CEO, BluBoard.
We are sold on MultiTech, their performance is consistently outstanding.” – Laurence Myerson, CEO of SMS Worldwide.
