Facebook owner Meta is operating on artificial intelligence research to produce worlds through speech.
Meta is also working to improve how people chat to voice assistants and translate between languages, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on Wednesday, as he shares crucial steps to building the metaverse.
A metaverse is a network of 3D worlds that are virtual. They are focused on social connection. In futurism and science fiction, it is often described as a hypothetical iteration of the Internet as an only universal virtual world that is facilitated using virtual and augmented reality headsets.
At the company’s live streamed “Inside the Lab” event, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, displayed an AI concept called Builder Bot. It allows users to describe what they want the AI to generate. He showed a demo where he commanded AI through speech to create a beach and then add clouds, trees, and a picnic blanket. He was on an island as a legless avatar.
Speaking at the event, he said, “The key to unlocking a lot of these advances is AI.”
