Komal Goyal: Proponent of Women in Technology

Before founding her own company, Komal Goyal, Managing Partner and CEO of 6e Technologies, worked with many consulting companies. While acquiring experience in market, she felt that most of the industry was not putting the customer first. There was little partnership between the consulting firm and the clients. Consulting companies were not working as a true partner to their client, this used to bother Komal and she wanted to start a company which would be known for the ‘customer-service’ they provide. “It is a fantastic feeling when our team members respond to a client with a solved issue at a time when the client has not even started his/her day,” says confident and work-satisfied Komal.
Weathering All Odds
Komal is an accomplished entrepreneur and consultant with more than twenty years of progressive experience in establishing and executing value driven businesses. She is one of the founders and a board member of Agnetta International, a foreign beverage importer in India. It was a tough market to be in for a woman of Indian origin to start a liquor importing company in India. She was told to pack her bags and go back to USA, but she weathered all odds and continued with her dream. Today, Agnetta is one of the well-known companies in the region to bring best of the premium foreign brands.
Making the Things Right
As the CEO of 6e Technologies she manages a global IT service strategy and delivery practice for the company. Komal has extensive technology consulting experience with Enterprise Systems and latest technologies with commercial and Public Sectors. She has led many successful client IT process transformations through her extensive knowledge. She is a customer-focused leader who helps in orchestrating complex processes across business applications and infrastructure layers. Helping the commercial and public sector clients with technology solutions is her passion. She understands the clients’ pain points and does not hesitate to be involved at the detail level of delivery. She is known for her passion for making the ‘things right’ until the client is completely satisfied. With a master’s degree in Computer Applications and numerous technology certifications, she has been actively involved in the tech community and has mentored aspiring young girls in this male-dominated field of tech. Komal is also the National Partner of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) motivating girls to step up and break all the rules.
Having years of experience in the market and even after creating her own brand, Komal says that if she gets a chance to start her career over again she would further extend her corporate exposure. She says, if she would have stayed in the corporate world for a couple of more years, the network she would have gained would have helped her propel the business faster.

Komal tries to keep the organization as flat as possible. She believes that unnecessary hierarchy is a recipe of slow decision making in most organizations and can negatively impact the customer service. .She makes sure that 6e Technologies is creating  a  team with people having the right skill sets and then empowering them not only by giving them responsibilities but also resources to make sure that they have what it takes to step into that role Komal further shares that, the telecommuting is a big part of their culture where their people are not asked where they spend their time as long as the work is being completed on a given deadline.

Women as Entrepreneurs
“Business women have come a long way in the last decade or so, but not enough to make an impact that we are capable of making,” says Komal. Some organizations like Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) are bringing issues faced by women entrepreneurs, such as access to the capital, federal contracts, etc. to the Capitol. In spite of their big wins on certain issues in the last decade, it is needless to say that the process is slow.
Komal says that achieving work-life balance is the most difficult part of being a woman business owner. The expectations from a woman are entirely different than from a man, regardless of the profession they are in. “In this constant balancing act of work andfamily I tend to neglect myself, except for the time during meditation. Having a strong meditation practice keeps me centered and charged to take on the day. I have to confess though that most of my time goes into work,” Komal adds.
