Instagram to bring a video selfie feature for identity verification to reduce fake accounts

Social Media Consultant, Matt Navara, shared a few screenshots of Instagram asking for video selfies for identity verification of the users.

This is to reduce the number of spam accounts. This will also help the platform to remove and reduce the number of fake accounts.
The platform also assures that it will not store the videos of users at the backend. The video will also be deleted from Company system after 30 days automatically. In this verification process, the user will be asked to move his/her head in a different direction. This will help the platform to understand if the person is real or not.

The feature was earlier introduced by Instagram in August last year. However, the feature was taken down after a very short time due to some technical issue. It looks like the issue is solved and Instagram is ready to bring the feature back.
