Gear item leveling guide for PVE in the First Season of WoW The War Within

Introduction

Gear in World of Warcraft: The War Within is a fundamental part of character progression. It not only boosts main stats but also defines tactics and playstyle. Well-chosen gear allows players to handle the toughest challenges, whether it’s powerful bosses, dangerous dungeons, or PvP battles. The War Within, like other expansions, has raised the maximum item level cap, making old gear weak. Because of this, players are forced to spend time leveling up to stay competitive. Some players resort to World of Warcraft power leveling. In this article, we will explore the mechanics and ways to obtain gear, highlighting the range of possible item levels.

Important Note

Before you start your journey to level up your equipment, we advise you to increase your level to 80. This will open access to all the methods available in this article, as well as remove all restrictions on wearing certain items. You can easily do this by completing the main campaign of the new expansion and sidequests.

Obtaining gear

World quests (561-571 ilvl)

One of the ways that requires the maximum level. These are quests that are updated twice a week and require you to complete various tasks: killing mobs, killing elite mobs, exploring different areas, and many other tasks from NPCs.  As a reward, you can get equipment and are guaranteed to get gold and certain resources. Item levels are scaled from your maximum item level at the moment, so it will take some time.

Special Assignments (571-584)

This is a new type of quest that guarantees you Adventurer track gear. To obtain it, you need to complete a quest, after which you will receive a Seasoned Adventurer’s Cache. Each week, the first two of these caches will guarantee a piece of gear. To unlock Special Assignments, you need to complete 3 world quests in a specific zone.

World bosses (603 ilvl)

This mechanic is a type of world quest but requires players to have experience, skills, and preparation. In this expansion, there are 4 bosses, each of which spawns only in their specific zone. It’s similar to fighting bosses in a dungeon or raid, where the actions of each player affect the outcome of the battle. Below are the bosses and the zones where they reside:

  • Kordac, the Dormant Protector: Isle of Dorn 49.0 61.6
  • Aggregation of Horrors: The Ringing Deeps 65.0 87.6
  • Shurrai: Hallowfall 45.4 17.4
  • Orta: City of Threads 17.1 33.4

Renown  Reputation (584 ilvl)

Thanks to this method you can easily increase your item level. With the release of the new addition to the game has provided new factions with which you can interact and increase your reputation. Reputation is divided into levels, and their increase gives some advantages. Starting from levels 6-8 of reputation you have the opportunity to buy items from special Vendors located in different zones. It is advisable to increase the reputation for all factions because each Vendor offers certain pieces of equipment of level 584. To purchase them, collect Resonance Crystals. You can read more about the vendors and their items here.

Weekly World Events (571-584)

A mechanic that adds additional content. These events are updated every week. Each of them has main and additional objectives that you need to complete to get the reward. For their fulfillment, you get different caches, depending on the zone in which you performed it. Below is the name of the event, the zone it is located in, and the reward:

  • Spreading the Light: Hallowfall, Radiant Cache
  • The Theater Troupe: Isle of Dorn, Theater Troupe’s Trove
  • Gearing Up for Trouble: The Ringing Deeps, Awakened Mechanical Cache

Dungeons (554/580/593/597- 613 ilvl)

Dungeons are a great source of loot, including gear, but they require learning mechanics and having experienced allies. The loot level heavily depends on the dungeon’s difficulty. There are three difficulty levels: Normal, Heroic, and Mythic 0. As an additional challenge, players can try Mythic+. This mode increases the difficulty depending on the level of a specific key, adding affixes that make the gameplay harder. The key level also affects the gear’s item level.

Bountiful Delves (561 – 603 ilvl)

Bountiful Delves is an improved version of the usual new mechanic in The War Within, which features an additional reward at the end called the Bountiful Coffer. To open these chests, players need a special Restored Coffer Key, which can be found in caches, bought from faction vendors, or created from Coffer Key Shards. The level of items in the chest depends on the Delve range: the higher the range, the better the rewards.

Raids( 584-639 ilvl)

Raids have always been the most difficult mechanic in the game, but in exchange, they give the most valuable loot. The level of equipment you can drop depends on the difficulty of the raid and the boss you beat. Below is a table with the range of loot levels, which drops on the example of the popular Nerub`ar Palace raid. If it is too hard for you but you want to equip the maximum item level you can order WoW level boosting.

Difficulty      Type Bosses 1-2 Bosses 3-4 Bosses 5-6 Bosses 7-8
LFR Regular 584 587 590 593
Very Rare 600 600 600
Normal Regular 597 600 603 606
Very Rare 613 613 613
Heroic Regular 610 613 616 619
Very Rare 626 626 626

Passive gear acquisition

After searching for gear in Delves, raids, and dungeons, don’t forget to collect your weekly reward from the Great Vault. This system rewards players for endgame activity by offering up to 3 items, from which you can choose 1. This allows you to pick what you need, rather than relying on chance. The item level of the gear depends on your progress in each activity — the higher the difficulty you complete, the better the reward. As a bonus, the gear from the Great Vault has a higher item level than the gear dropped from the same difficulty. For example, a Mythic 10+ dungeon drops 613 item-level gear, but the Vault reward is 623.

Conclusion

Gear leveling is a challenging task that requires a significant amount of time and effort, but it gives a sense of character progression, bringing enjoyable emotions to players. This article includes a variety of methods that can be used for leveling up, allowing you to choose the one that suits you best. If you hit a certain item level and can’t progress further, you can order a WoW power leveling service, which will make you stronger in no time.
