Prime Highlights :
Yotta and NVIDIA have launched the Shakti Cloud, powered by NVIDIA DGX Cloud Lepton, to drive India’s sovereign AI ecosystem.
The move is in sync with India’s vision to develop independent AI infrastructure and language models dedicated to Indian use cases.
Key Facts :
Yotta is the first-ever NVIDIA Cloud Partner in Asia-Pacific to be part of the NVIDIA Exemplar Clouds program.
Shakti Cloud will have over 16,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs by mid-2024 and scale up to 32,768 by end of 2025.
Key Background :
Yotta Data Services, the first Indian data center and cloud services company, collaborated with the world’s leading tech company, NVIDIA, to launch Shakti Cloud, powered by DGX Cloud Lepton. The strategic initiative is part of the program that India aims to develop the sovereignty of Artificial Intelligence infrastructure that can support the development of large-scale, indigenous AI models. The project is the core of the IndiaAI Mission—facilitating self-reliant and secure AI capabilities.
Shakti Cloud will be national AI compute infrastructure and enable the development and deployment of India-specific large language models, like Sovereign LLM of Sarvam AI. The latter is capable of both sensing and producing content in Indian languages, so areas like governance, farming, and education can now take off. Developers, startups, and the government can now have access to high-performance AI compute capacity without relying on overseas platforms.
At the core of Shakti Cloud is NVIDIA’s DGX Cloud Lepton stack, which delivers state-of-the-art GPU performance optimized for intensive AI workloads. Through the deployment of over 16,000 NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs by mid-2024 and a 2025 roadmap to launch 32,768 GPUs, Yotta is paving the way for India’s largest AI computing cloud. The magnitude and sophistication of the infrastructure place India among the few countries that have a sovereign AI capability.
Yotta’s inclusion in the NVIDIA Exemplar Clouds program represents its contribution to worldwide AI leadership. The partnership enables India to lead innovation with local data and AI application control. The Shakti Cloud program will equip startups, companies, and government institutions, ensuring access to potent AI abilities is affordable and democratized, propelling local innovation at scale.
