Marina Bay Sands (MBS) is gearing up to commence full-scale construction of its expansion project, which encompasses the addition of a fourth tower and a 15,000-seat entertainment arena, by July 2025. The project, valued at billions of dollars, is entering its final phase of design enhancements.
According to a statement released by MBS on April 5, construction is slated for completion by July 2029. The latest visual depiction unveiled by the integrated resort showcases the entertainment arena nestled between its existing structure and the new fourth tower. MBS envisions this arena as a magnet for top entertainers from Asia and beyond, featuring a more inviting frontage compared to previous designs.
Designed by Safdie Architects, the same firm responsible for MBS’s original structure, the expansion will include a luxurious hotel tower with a sky roof, alongside the aforementioned entertainment arena and additional premium space for meetings, conferences, and exhibitions. New dining, beverage, and nightlife options will also be introduced.
Patrick Dumont, President and Chief Operating Officer of Las Vegas Sands, MBS’s parent company, emphasized the project’s role in elevating hospitality standards, attracting global entertainment events, and bolstering Singapore’s position as a prime MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination.
This expansion initiative is distinct from a separate $1.75 billion reinvestment in MBS’s existing facilities, marking the largest reinvestment since the resort’s inauguration in 2010. Already, refurbishments have revitalized Towers 1 and 2, offering new dining choices and luxury amenities tailored to discerning travelers. The ongoing refurbishment will now shift focus to Tower 3, the lobby, and Sands SkyPark, introducing premium dining and retail options, as well as a revamped lobby, among other enhancements.
