Vecima Networks Inc. and MARA Technologies USA, a subsidiary of Invotek Group Inc., have announced a significant milestone with the production of the first U.S.-manufactured Entra® SF-4X Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) at MARA’s facility in Holly, Michigan. The achievement was celebrated on August 28 with a visit from Alan Davidson, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information and National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Administrator.
Vecima’s expansion into U.S. manufacturing aligns with the Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements under the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program, part of the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act (IIJA). The BEAD Program, backed by $42.45 billion in funding, aims to enhance broadband access across the U.S., particularly in underserved and unserved communities.
Paul LaCroix, CEO of Invotek, expressed excitement over this milestone, stating, “The MARA team is thrilled to deliver Vecima’s first SF-4X Fiber products manufactured in the U.S. Our fully operational production facility, along with a new distribution warehouse, will increase capacity and provide more value-added services.” The expansion is expected to create up to 100 highly skilled jobs in Holly, Michigan.
The Entra SF-4X is part of Vecima’s industry-leading 10G PON product portfolio, which has seen robust market adoption. In March 2023, Vecima was named the global market share leader in Remote MACPHY and Remote OLT Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) solutions by the Dell’Oro Group.
Clay McCreery, Chief Operating Officer of Vecima, highlighted the importance of this development, noting that customers can now deploy the Entra SF-4X to support high-speed fiber broadband networks across the U.S. under the BEAD program, furthering the mission to bring high-speed internet to all communities.
