The US company (Headquartered in Southlake, Texas, USA) Sabre is a technology solutions provider in the travel industry.
Sabre helps airline, hotel and travel agencies and the customers grow their businesses with its technology and data-driven solutions.
It is the world’s largest provider of airline and hotel technology.
Sabre’s contract got rejected for PSS on Wednesday, it took its case to Delhi High Court (HC), alleging favouritism in the PSS contract as Air India for its passenger service system (PSS), chose Amadeus over Sabre for the contract.
Amadeus Solutions is a solutions provider in India headquartered in Bangalore with a branch office in Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune and Delhi. Amadeus provides various travelling supports like travel agents, travel suppliers, government agencies and so on.
The PSS means passenger service system that consists of functions like scheduling flights, reservation of tickets, departure control, and e-commerce.
Sabre and Amadeus are the companies who were bidding for the PSS contract.
Sabre claimed the airline could have saved Rs 900 crore by the contract they provided.
The airline replied its selection was the quality-cum-cost-based selection (QCBS) criteria, where Amadeus overall score was more than Sabre’s score.
