India’s leading English news channel, Times Now, is all set to expand its foot-mark across 100 countries when it joined hands with the German pay TV and over-the-top company, Bubbles Media for its launch in Europe.
The deal is predicted to add a possible audience of around 1.4 million Indians in mainland Europe, across countries that include Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, and Switzerland.
“Today, with India’s growing participation in international affairs, engaging with the Indian diaspora is equally important towards our economic development,” said MK Anand, Managing Director and Chief Executive at Times Network.
“Through our approach towards television news journalism, we plan to represent a modern, vibrant, successful and vocal India to the world,” added Anand.
Times now’s international expansion started only in early 2011, with its commercial launch in Australia while Times Now was launched 11 years back. The channel now reaches 10 million Indians outside the home market, across five continents, in the last six years.
“This is truly a landmark achievement considering we were the last Indian TV network to begin international operations and have reached 100 countries in just a little over five years,” Head of International business, Naveen Chandra. “We are all set to launch our first local content initiatives in Europe and look forward to growing aggressively in the future.”
Times Now has been the most watched English news channel over the period of the last nine years in India and has been continuing to dominate the local market.
Times Now commands a and 58% during prime time English News, and 43% market share in the English News category, according to Broadcast Audience Research Council data.
