Microsoft’s New Goal Focuses On Education Facilities

In the New York Spring event, Microsoft clearly mentioned their focus on providing education services to the students and educational institutions. The main headlines of Microsoft’s discussion were Surface Laptops, and their brand new Education-focused Operating System, Windows 10 S. The computer and software manufacturing company also mentioned that the fully featured version of its desktop Office 365 applications will be available soon in the windows store with their prime focus on education.
Earlier, Microsoft’s education goal circled around the high-priced surface laptops but the company has finally made announcements in the recent event about their goals to provide education services at a much affordable price. The company came up with a solution which focuses on low-cost hardware and running familiar software. Microsoft’s new operating software is the result of that solution plan.
In the event, the company also mentioned that the new Office 365 designed for Education suite of apps will be available free of cost for all students and teachers. The Office 365 package will include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, and other necessary classroom tools. They added that the new applications are not available in the store right now but the Windows users will be able to preview the new apps since June. The subscribers of Microsoft Office 365 Education subscribers will be able to enjoy the new Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for testing purposes from the beginning of June. The Windows manufacturing company clearly mentioned that all the new apps will be available only in 32-bit. They also indicated that the news apps will be purchasable and downloadable from the Windows Store for free, sometimes at the end of this year.
Though it is believed that these new apps will increase the productivity of the students in the classrooms but the company has added some restrictions to the new Windows 10 S software. As given in the Microsoft Windows FAQ page, the new Windows 10 S will be having Microsoft Edge as the default browser. Experts said that though other browsers can be installed for use, the default browser of the operating system will remain as Edge and it is unchangeable.
As given in the Microsoft Windows website, one of the FAQs of reads as “Microsoft Edge is the default web browser on Microsoft 10 S. You are able to download another browser that might be available from the Windows Store, but Microsoft Edge will remain the default if, for example, you open a .html file. Additionally, the default search provider in Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer cannot be changed.”          
The new idea behind launching this new operating software is to reach students and educational practitioners and provide them with a solution which is simple, familiar and affordable. The company manufacturing companies like HP and Acer have already introduced new convertibles with Windows 10 Software with a price tag of $299 only, whereas the new Surface Laptop is also available for pre-order right at price of $999.
