Parler has announced in a statement that Kanye West, the famous rapper now going by Ye, has reached a preliminary agreement to purchase the conservative social networking platform.
Kanye West was recently locked out from both his Twitter and Instagram accounts for posting anti-Semitic comments.
The deal’s financial details weren’t made public. Prior to now, the business claimed to have secured $56 million in capital from outside investors.
Ye reportedly has a $2 billion net worth. Kanye West association with Gap and Adidas, as well as his line of Yeezy sneakers, account for a large portion of his wealth. But Ye recently terminated business ties with Gap, and Adidas is also said to be reconsidering its business partnership with him. The rapper has also been cut off from JPMorgan Chase.
Parler, which debuted in 2018, became embroiled in controversy last year due to its involvement in the Capitol building riots on January 6, 2021. That prompted numerous tech firms, including Google, Apple, and Amazon, to block access to the service’s website and app by blacklisting it.
In September, Google ended the ban claiming the app had modified some of its content filtering policies, and Apple too restored it on its App Store on April 2021.
