Prolec GE Waukesha Acquires Full Ownership of Menk USA

Prolec GE Waukesha, Inc., a business unit of Prolec GE, has completed the acquisition of the remaining equity in Menk USA LLC, a leading North American manufacturer of cooling radiators for power grid transformers. Prolec GE Waukesha, a partial owner since 2002, acquired full ownership from Germany-based Menk-Schmehmann Group, specialists in complex tube forming and welded assemblies.

The full integration of Menk USA into Prolec GE’s components portfolio is expected to enhance the company’s supply chain resilience and strengthen its strategic capabilities in the transformer market. Menk USA will now play a critical role in Prolec GE’s ongoing efforts to secure essential transformer components, ensuring market availability and improving collaboration with both customers and suppliers.

Ricardo Suarez, CEO of Prolec GE, emphasized the significance of the acquisition, stating, “This acquisition marks another milestone in our evolution. Menk USA has been a valuable ally, and now, as a fully integrated entity, we are excited to leverage our combined strengths to drive innovation and deliver enhanced value to our customers. We are confident that this strategic move will further solidify our position as industry leaders and generate new business opportunities for our company.”

Menk USA CEO, Chip Donahue, also expressed optimism about the future, noting, “We have had a productive and successful relationship with Prolec GE for over 20 years. Now, by integrating into the Prolec GE business, Menk USA is in an optimal position to better serve our existing customers while exploring new opportunities for expansion and development.”

With the acquisition complete, Prolec GE aims to leverage Menk USA’s capabilities to drive growth, innovation, and further solidify its leadership in the power grid transformer market.
