We all tend to be wary of the unknown, which explains why many potential users are still skeptical of the cloud. That is why Jim Walker founded CloudHesive—to help customers understand the benefits of leveraging a cloud infrastructure to support their business strategy.
Based out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, CloudHesive is the only Florida based Amazon Web Services Advanced Consulting Partner with a Managed Service Partner (MSP) competency. They are focused on providing cloud consulting, DevOps, Security Operations (SecOps), and provides ongoing 24/7 cloud managed services for its customers.
CloudHesive is a new breed of cloud services provider that facilitates cost-effective, highly scalable, and secure cloud solutions. Their team of experts helps companies deploy mission-critical workloads onto a reliable platform to reduce operating costs, increase productivity and strengthen security. CloudHesive has partnered with some of the most notable cloud infrastructure companies to wrap traditional cloud offerings (public, private or hybrid) with cloud-centric security controls, such as encryption, endpoint security, intrusion detection, vulnerability management, and continuous monitoring throughout the environment lifecycle.

An Innovative Leader Promoting Technology Growth
Before Jim Walker founded CloudHesive, he worked for several distinguished SaaS and PaaS companies. The valuable experience and knowledge he gained afforded him the opportunity to create a company of his own. Most recently, Walker was the Global Head of Cloud Operations and Security for Pegasystems in Cambridge, Massachusetts. While at Pegasystems, Jim was a member of the team that founded, incubated and grew the Pega Cloud service offering into a global solution.
Before joining Pegasystems, Mr. Walker was the CTO of Arise Virtual Solutions, an at-home contact center service company in Miramar, Florida. While overseeing the security and core technology platforms, Jim helped Arise become an international business process outsourcing company.
Jim currently sits on the board of directors for the South Florida Technology Alliance (SFTA), which helps promote the growth of the technology community in South Florida. He is also a guest speaker on the topic of cloud computing at the University of Miami, as well as the initiator of the Amazon Web Services User Groups of Florida.
Security in the Cloud
Managing security in the cloud is key. That is why CloudHesive partnered with some of the most reputable security providers in the world, including Vormetric, Alert Logic, Trend Micro, Tenable, Cohesive Networks, Sumologic, and vArmour.
The CloudHesive team will integrate into your critical internal administrative controls to help streamline business processes. By implementing proven security controls, CloudHesive helps customers increase the visibility of their environment activity and protects them from new and developing threats.
In addition to cloud deployments, CloudHesive establishes and manages their customers’ on-premises environments. According to Walker, “We can deploy our security solutions in a cloud model while managing a cloud, hybrid or on-premises environment, depending on our customers’ needs.”
CloudHesive also understands the importance of compliance. In order for their clients to be successful, they must be able to pass critical regulatory and third-party audits such as PCI, HIPAA, and SSAE 16. The CloudHesive team works with their customers to ensure proper cloud security controls are in place and up to date.
Jim emphasized, “We will work with your security team to ensure we are aligned with your annual audit schedule, so that commonly requested supporting documentation can be provided in an agreed upon time frame.”
Disaster Recovery Plans
CloudHesive utilizes Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and IBM / SoftLayer, in some cases, a multi-vendor disaster recovery strategy. Jim mentioned that CloudHesive leverages AWS to place DR environments in a pilot light configuration. This means if a disaster is declared, the environment can fail over to a warm environment on AWS that can be ‘lit’ and become fully production-ready in minutes. In the multi-vendor approach, CloudHesive drives data to other cloud providers in the event of a disaster. This allows clients to avoid full dependence on a single cloud vendor for their hosted needs, resulting in more autonomy.
Peace of Mind
The CloudHesive team improves clients’ operations by utilizing a DevOps strategy that provides scalable, flexible and agile cloud solutions. They also provide cost-effective cloud services based on a pay-as-you-go model, coupled with the convenience of single billing. CloudHesive has leveraged cutting-edge technology to expand its global footprint throughout multiple industries, including high-tech, healthcare, retail, government, higher education, and financial services.
“The future of CloudHesive revolves around continuous improvement in our managed services, SecOps and DevOps practices,” Walker said. “We are also working towards expanding our DevOps and cloud orchestration platform, so our customers can manage workloads seamlessly across multiple cloud vendors.”
