1. Collect Seed
Harvest seeds from spent marigold flowers. Once the blooms have dried and turned brown, they will contain seeds.
2. Prepare the Soil
Choose well-draining soil, as marigolds don’t like soggy conditions. A mix of garden soil and compost works well.
3. Planting the Seeds
Spread the seeds over the surface of the soil or plant them about ¼ inch deep. If using a pot, plant several seeds but leave space between each one.
4. Watering
Water the soil lightly using a watering can or spray bottle. The soil should stay moist but not waterlogged.
5. Provide Sunlight
Marigolds need plenty of sunlight to thrive. Place the pot in a sunny spot or, if growing outdoors, make sure the bed receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight.
