Estonia offers one of the most generous maternity leave policies in the world. Mothers receive 20 weeks of fully paid maternity leave, followed by an additional 62 weeks of parental leave, which can be taken by either parent and is also paid.
In Bulgaria, mothers are entitled to 410 days of maternity leave, 45 of which are taken before the birth. The leave is paid at 90% of the mother’s salary, ensuring financial security during this period.
Hungary provides a generous maternity leave system, where mothers receive 24 weeks of maternity leave paid at 70% of their salary.
Lithuania offers 18 weeks of maternity leave paid at 100% of the mother’s salary. Parents can then take additional parental leave for up to two years, with the first year paid at 70% of their salary and the second year at a lower rate.
Slovakia provides 34 weeks of maternity leave paid at 75% of the mother’s previous earnings. The leave can start 6-8 weeks before the expected birth date, and fathers are also eligible for paternity leave.
