Following Gordon Welsh’s retirement, former HSBC transaction banking head Tim Reid has been appointed director of UK Export Finance’s (UKEF) business group.
Reid is expected to assist in the implementation of the export credit agency’s four-year business strategy, which was introduced in 2020 and focuses on assisting a higher number of UK companies in exporting goods and financing businesses involved in the global transition to net-zero carbon emissions.
Tim Reid replaces Welsh, who left UKEF after nearly 25 years. Welsh has previously held various top positions at the agency, including head of product and business development and head of aviation, before being named head of its business group in 2016.
Reid spent 34 years at HSBC, where he led the company’s global and commercial banking divisions in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as its continental European commercial banking unit.
