Susan Wojcicki Bids Adieu to YouTube

Alphabet Inc, made it official, that Susan Wojcicki, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YouTube, has resigned from her position.

Susan Wojcicki was working as the leader of the social media platforms for nine long years, and throughout these 9years, they have been immensely successful.

The new CEO of YouTube is Indian-American executive Neal Mohan, a long-time Google and YouTube executive. Mohan has joined a select group of Indian-born IT executives, including Sundar Pichai, Satya Nadella of Microsoft, Arvind Krishna of IBM, and Shantanu Narayen of Adobe.

Mohan will succeed Susan Wojcicki, who served as CEO of YouTube for almost 25 years.

Susan Wojcicki, expressed her thoughts about this appointment through a letter “When I joined YouTube nine years ago, one of my first priorities was bringing in an incredible leadership team. Neal Mohan was one of those leaders, and he’ll be the SVP and new head of YouTube.” 

At YouTube, Neal Mohan has served as the chief product officer. Before that, he was employed by the industry leader in internet search, Google, which he joined in 2008.

In addition to managing the video producers who contributed to the website’s ability to host videos, Susan Wojcicki made a point of making YouTube more accessible to advertising. With her help, YouTube rose to become one of Alphabet’s crown jewels, bringing in $29.2 billion in ad revenue in 2022, accounting for more than 10% of the company’s overall income.

While concluding her letter, Susan Wojcicki praised the new CEO by saying that he has “wonderful sense for our product, our business, our creator and user communities, and our employees. Neal will be a terrific leader for YouTube.”
