Facebook has notified its users that four information sections on their accounts will be removed beginning next month. Religious beliefs, political beliefs, addresses, and the “Interested in” section reveal a user’s sexual orientation. The new policy will take effect on December 1.
“As part of our efforts to make Facebook easier to navigate and use, we’re removing a handful of profile fields:
Interested In, Religious Views, Political Views, and Address. We’re sending notifications to people who have these fields filled out, letting them know these fields will be removed. This change doesn’t affect anyone’s ability to share this information about themselves elsewhere on Facebook,” said the spokesperson.
The Company decided to remove these specific profile data is part of the company’s efforts to streamline its platform. Previously, people were interested in filling out their accounts with additional information, but as privacy violations have been revealed, users no longer want to reveal extra facts about themselves online.
